Product Description

The Silencer insert is designed for applications where more sound reduction than the standard CC Inserts is required. Beyond having an additional disk, the center 2 disks actually have fewer holes, allowing for additional reduction in sound levels...As much as 10 decibels. (2" Inserts have standard holes in the center 2 disks) These units are especially desirable in fenderwell headers and vehicles with side pipes. The use of the plug and/or restrictor caps on the center core could yield additional reduction in sound levels. One of the most versatile mufflers on the market today.

Coated Inserts have to go thru the coating shop. Approximately 7 days.

This unique design helps pull the exhaust gases through the exhaust system. CC Inserts provide a deep crisp note to any exhaust system. Developed to quiet racing exhaust systems, the Inserts provide a very light, efficient alternative to bulky mufflers. Testing has demonstrated that CC Inserts can improve low AND mid range power, even when compared to open headers. When used in street applications you gain all of the benefits of the race units with an aggressive exhaust note that hints of a full race system. New CC Flanged Inserts are also available.

Car Chemistry, Inc. cannot guarantee that any specific application will meet the sound requirements of all municipalities or other governmental agencies. The wide variety of engine configurations and exhaust system designs preclude guaranteeing that all systems using CC Inserts will be street legal. The size is based on the outside (OD) diameter of the pipe the Inserts are to fit into. Each application will be different. Some race applications have proven satisfactory with only a single disk insert. The use of CC Inserts allows the user to custom tailor the unit for his specific application. This can increase torque and horsepower, while decreasing sound volume.

The insert is 7" long. Simply slide them into your header collector or anywhere in the exhaust pipe. You can easily install them to be removable. These baffles are so unique that they have a US Patent. They offer a great amount of versatility to dial the sound where you want it. They can be packed between each disk with a muffler packing or steel wool and each kit comes with an optional plug and restrictor cap for the center tube. Save weight (less than 1 pound), and valuable space under the car. Sold individually.

  1. Works as advertised 5 Star Review

Posted by on 24th Jun 2024

I was somewhat skeptical at the beginning, but this worked for me.
I have a dual cat back on my 22 Tacoma and the droning between 2000-2500 RPM was horrendous. After some research I came up with this insert.
I installed them right after my resonators, I have no more droning and actually enjoy driving my truck at any RPM range

  2. For FE powered Kirkham 427 Street 5 Star Review

Posted by on 16th Jun 2023

Our customer had brought us his Kirkham a few years ago for a noise reduction because he lives in a neighborhood with an HOA, and I guess they werent too happy with the volume of his 427.
Well we successfully installed 2, large and modified, magnaflows. Straight through design but very dense. He was happy with it, then he was on his way.

Customer hits us up a few weeks ago asking if there is a way to make it quieter (neighbors werent happy again and probably some kind of HOA re-structure). So we said sure, we'll see what we can do. Luckily I happened to stumble upon this website! Read the reviews on the inserts and thought we should definitely try them.
Ordered them in 2.5" abd installed then right after the header and right before the large magnaflow mufflers.
WORKED A DREAM. Incredible DB reduction and still had a really nice tone.
Our customer was ecstatic as were we.

    Fantastic and clever product!

  3. Amazing Product 5 Star Review

Posted by on 11th May 2022

I got the 2" version to go in the tailpipe of my 1992 Daihatsu Atrai (micro van). The previous owner removed the muffler so it has open headers. The exhaust was very loud to the point where it was hard to talk to a passenger while driving. After installing the silencer insert and using the fiberglass wrapping between three of the discs, I can't even hear the engine while driving. It so much quieter and I am amazed at the results.

  4. Great product, well built 5 Star Review

Posted by on 12th Jan 2020

This silencer is not really a complex part. If it was not welded correctly, it sure could of been a pain to install. It fit perfectly. Cuts the exhaust noise a bit. I plan on experimenting with the reducers to see what happens. Would I buy one again? Yup!

  5. Fits 4 inch 5 Star Review

Posted by on 28th Sep 2019

I was hesitant to buy after some reviews about incorrect fitment but it fit my 4 inch OD exhaust perfect. Nice sound, I have used Car Chemistry products in the past, they are also great for tuning motorcycle exhaust . There are some that can't read a tape or misunderstand that the Inserts fit according to the OD of the pipe.

  6. Silencer for Motorcycle 4 Star Review

Posted by on 13th Jun 2018

The four-disk silencer reduced exhaust noise considerably, after being wrapped/packed with fibreglass muffler packing as well. Setup was an easy fit into the 2.5" pipes.

  7. Silencer Insert IDEAL! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 20th Aug 2017

I installed a custom fabricated 2.5" exhaust on our wheelchair accessible Grand Caravan. Custom was required because of the body fabrication necessary to accommodate the wheelchair. Stainless and mandrel bends because I'm a car car and wanted it to last forever. But even with the resonsator it was too loud. Acceptable, but not what I wanted. That's when I found the silencer insert from Car Chemistry. Coupled with the stainless steel wool and I did use the end caps also, the van is now ideal. I couldn't have asked for better fitment. Installation incredibly easy. Thanks Ken and Car Chemistry.

  8. Works great 5 Star Review

Posted by on 31st Dec 2016

I have a Nissan Cube where I replaced the OEM exhaust system with a DC Sports cat-back exhaust system. The exhaust was very loud and only sounded good above 5000+ RPMs. The drone was awful between 2000 to 4000 RPMs and it sounded like I had a lawn mower running on the bumper of my car. I got the 4 disc silencer insert and installed it after the middle resonator and before the muffler. I used stainless steel wool in between the baffles but did not weld on the restrictor cap or solid plug. It did not fit easily and it required me to shave some metal off the sides of the baffles with a Dremel tool. This took the longest time of the whole installation process. I also had to tap it in with a hammer half way in. (This is due to metric size pipe) I am very satisfied with how it sounds now.

  9. Works Perfect - Eliminates Drone 5 Star Review

Posted by on 11th Aug 2014

Purchased these AFTER installing new 3" cat back Magnaflow system to replace my stock 2.5" cat back on Mustang. Before installing these inserts the drone was HORRIBLE. This inserts made a HUGE difference and my daily driver is now enjoyable again. I would highly recommend to anyone needing and/or wanting to eliminate the drone.

  10. Excellent tune ability 4 Star Review

Posted by on 2nd May 2014

I bought these Silencer Inserts with the high temp. coating about 2 months ago for my YJ with SB 350, fender well headers and I built my side pipes to accept these inserts and it looks like I have straight pipes. Then had everything ceramic coated. Looks awesome! I love the tune ability of these mufflers. I'm still tuning to find the right combination. I am using the fine Stainless Steel Wool in all three gaps between the disk. and the 1/2" hole center caps. The only complaint I have is that the disk were not welded on the center tube straight. And with the 1/2" flange on each disc, this caused the insert to bind up inside the exhaust pipe. I had to grind off quite a bit on a belt sander to get them to slide in easily so they can be removed and tuned easy. So far, these things are simple and awesome!

CCI comment: The CC Inserts are fixture built. The binding was most likely due to the addition of the coating. The 2.5" Inserts typically fit tight in the pipe without coating.
